ACTCA.ORG - ACT Consultants Association

The purpose of the ACTCA is to foster excellence in ACT Consultants, Professionals, and Trainers with objectively verifiable requirements.

The ACT Certified Professional program takes the profession of helping people with ACT* software to a level higher.   The ACP's are those who have proven their capability to perform in the most demanding situations.

  • Technical Competence
  • History of successful installations including synchronization
  • Performance for clients, by letters of recommendation

Certification is offered at three levels:

The CAC is for those who wish to certify themselves as capable of offering at least basic consulting.  ICC ACCs qualify automatically for this level.  The ACP is for those who have made a profession of offering consulting, and have demonstrated a high level of experience and expertise. The ACT is for those who have demonstrated the ability to provide excellent training to others wishing to use ACT software.

There are no convention attendance requirements. The ACA uses online conferences and the latest web based conferencing technology for meetings.

For an ACT Certified Trainer

  • Recommendations from students in at least 10 previous classes
  • Submit short video tape or AVI of teaching style
  • Submit sample pages from materials used
  • (These requirements are revisable by elected Board of Directors.)

Membership Information

As membership increases, more services will be offered.
A Board of Directors will be elected by the Membership

Benefits

  • The ACTCA will focus on providing advanced seminars, preferably online, to minimize costs and maximize knowledge among the CACs.
  • An online Newsletter is planned bringing the most up to date tips
  • A Support Web site with links integrating the various existing support sites
  • Freedom to recommend to your customer the solution you think best meets their needs
  • Independence from any particular software corporation no quotas or expectations to promote a particular solution
  • Referrals from web site, and search engine promotion efforts
  • The three letters you can list after your name, just in a different order.

    Referrals

The ACT Consultants Association will soon be publishing on the web a list of those at the CAC, ACP, and ACT levels by state and city. At this time, however, if you would like to receive a list of those who may assist you, please email to:
    referral@actcertified.org

Relationship with other ACT certification organizations

The CAC, ACP, and ACT certification levels do not replace the ACC program offered by Interact Commerce Corporation, but add to and extend it. ACT! Certified Consultants, as certified by Interact Commerce Corporation, must do the following:

    • Pay a $2000 fee
    • Pass an online exam
    • Attend an informative week long seminar in Scottsdale, Arizona
    • Refrain from supporting competing products
    • Have good rapport with specific managers at ICC

However, some customers have expressed dismay that some ACCs are unable to exhibit the knowledge and skill expected, in the areas of synchronization, and the ACT! SDK. This indicates that the qualifications need to be more rigorous.

There is only one certification level covering all ACCs, from those with 10 days' experience to 10 years'. Instead of listing arbitrarily by last name, or company name, Certified ACT Consultants should be listed on the web in order by years of experience and performance, for the benefit of customers looking for consultants.

ICC policies have resulted in reports of infighting in the ICC ACC program, as they jostle for leads.  The company that makes and sells a software product, may insist that its certified consultants only recommend their product, whether or not it is best for the customer.  These policies have resulted in good ACT consultants leaving the program.  Then the customers are less able to find qualified help.

The ACT Consultants Association fills the gap, and provides a totally skill-based certification program.  The goal is to help provide the best possible service to the users of ACT!

The fees are minimal, $20 per year for each certification: ACP, ACP,  and ACT.   The ACTCA is nonprofit, and all expenses are posted for members to review.

ACTCA certification is earned after a consultant has proved himself in the field, rather than before going out to serve.  ACTCA certification offers an additional criteria for the customer to use in deciding which person is the best consultant for their needs.
